Puff and scatter!

Beautiful sphere of fairy parachutes
to puff and fly away
and one infect a sward’s smooth place
with bursting taproot strong and long
establishing itself well-rooted there to stay
with flat rosette of jagged teeth
the arrow leaves that clear their space
and soon thrust up
a bright gold sun
like cheery clown-like smile
to brighten up
monotony of tidy lawn’s
monopoly of cloned green carpet pile.

Such wonderful descriptions
Such wonderful descriptions in this poem Rhiannon. My favourite lines were: -
Beautiful sphere of fairy parachutes
to puff and fly away
Creates such a special image to me.
Sadly we don't have any arrow leaves or yellow flowers, just a brown lawn with a few green bits. But your poem was so cheery to read.
Thank you for sharing.
Jenny.

"Beautiful sphere of fairy parachutes
to puff and fly away"
" jagged teeth/the arrow leaves"
I like the contrast between these two very much. And I loved the image of a plant clearing a bit of space to make a sun, become centre of its own universe!

Rhiannon "to puff and fly away" it is amazing, heavier than air flight. Must be and I see it's called a dandelion. Wonderful description we have them here also and just the same.
See you & Nolan

A dandelion clock is a wonderful thing! And a 'cloned green carpet pile' most definitely isn't. Thank you for this lovely piece Rhiannon

I thought it came from "dandy lion"?
I thought it came from "dandy lion"? Funny hey!? you know like the lion's mane. It is the breezes that keeps it afloat obviously. They do fall only very slowly. Can be a nuisance too.
See you Rhiannon! Tom
