Especially now we know your worth.
Little time has passed, since we last saw your smiling face,
In truth the nation loved you.
Zen buddhists, Christians, Jews, Muslims : all the same to you.
And now you are to be laid to rest with pomp and circumstance,
But through it all you were a shining light,
Each problem faced, if not fully resolved.
The floral tributes are a garden of memories,
Heckles unwelcome as a patriot voice reaffirms God Save the King.
Roads to home; the glittering Buckingham Palace.
Every mourner appreciating your special gift to us.
Gone now but never forgotten, your duty and care.
In every corner of the kingdom tears come.
Now entering the gates of heaven,
And resting in peace for all eternity.

A touching tribute, Hilary.
A touching tribute, Hilary. It's certainly an intense period of national mourning. I guess that reflects the status of the person involved. God Bless the Queen, may she rest in peace and Long Live the King. Paul

You show her gentle care, and
You show her gentle care, and how much respect for her quiet consistency.
It is interesting how the concept of 'service' and 'serving others' rather than 'must look after me' has come to the nation's concsiousness through her passing and realising their admiration for her steadfastness and concern for all. And also her twinkle and sense of fun and happiness and how that was strengthened (not lessened) by her committed faith in Christ. Rhiannon

Your poem was so touching
Your poem was so touching Hilary. Elizabeth was a very special person, and you've picked up on so many of her great qualities.
It was a pleasure to read.
Jenny.
