All Seasons' Refuges

Into the woods in the springtime,
meet vivid carpets of blue,
sparkles of white windflowers
brighten up the smoky hue.
Come out of the woods with lighter hearts
refreshed by the sight new growth imparts.
Into the woods in the summer,
enjoying the shade and the green,
calmed and soothed by the gentle sounds
and varied leaf patterns there seen.
Come out of the woods to enjoy once more
bright sunshine, more energy than before.
Into the woods in autumn,
for glorious colours so bold,
when sunshine shines they seem alight,
as the trees prepare for the cold.
Come out of the woods to face dull days
cheered by the colour display ablaze.
Into the woods in winter,
when trees are stark and bare,
their branches’ shapes then clearly seen,
look past to the landscape where
we return, coming out after exploration –
the buds had foretold spring’s transformation.

This is beautiful, Rhiannon.
This is beautiful, Rhiannon. Lovely response to the IP and a thought-provoking look at the woods in the different seasons. Gave me a real feeling of being there.

Nature's seasons come and go,
Nature's seasons come and go, and with it the changing of colours throughout the woods. You've managed to capture each one that leaves its memory with us so well in this poem Rhiannon.
Lovely read.
Jenny.

Rhiannon, I like the rhythm
Rhiannon, I like the rhythm of your poem. It mirrors the seasonal rhythm of the changes of Nature in the woods. You show us how the lights and colours inside the woods can lighten our moods. Thank you xx Ray
