"Anemoi" (wind gods- mythology)

Eurus owns the Eastern winds
And all the autumn colors
The Blazing trees
Gold and red
September’s
Artful nature
October nights
Shortened days
Through November’s
Thankful days
Boreas’s breath of ice and snow
Sends blizzards from the North
Blanketing December’s hope
Of Peace on earth
Good will towards man
January's chilling frost
Rings the New Year in
February firesides
Warms hearts
And Valentines
Zephuros moves the winds to west
Soft breezes kiss the earth
Gentle rains
Tender shoots
Fields of green
And Blossom’s bloom
Springs anew
April through June
Notus yawns with heated breath
Whipping from the south
Summer reigns o’er lazy days
warming sand and sea
Humid nights
Are Cricket’s delight
June, July and August
But September brings
Capricious winds
Wild seas
Of churning blue
Angry rains
To drench the lands
And
Births
Of
Hurricanes

Hope you are not touched by the hurricanes where you are? I had no idea about these wind names but you have described them so well. The last bit comes blasting! Was it an east wind that brought the terrible floods and storm surges? Anemoi sounds a bit like enemy, which must be how the wind seemed

Hi Penny, I imagine the
Hi Penny, I imagine the hurrican that struck Forida was bad and those last 10 lines describe sadly what happened. I hope you were okay and not hit too badly. Having been on holiday on Florida's coast, I know what those strong winds can be like...very scary.
I like the way you've written this striking poem, with the mention of the seasons and the gods that rule them, very clever and I enjoyed reading.
Jenny.
