The Hug.

I was at my cousin’s house yesterday. She opened her mail when she came home from work, then she said, to me, “I’ve just opened a letter, it said, “Your Mum paid too much tax, so we are sending you a cheque for the amount.”

My lovely Auntie died last year from breast cancer in May. It is her Mum.

I said, “How much is the cheque?” Lousia replied, “One pound, twenty.” I looked at her and said, “Was it worth it?” I went on, “They should have just put it straight into your bank account, and not bother sending you the letter and the cheque.”

I then added, “It would have been nice if it was four thousand pounds, that would have been like a hug from your Mum, from the grave.” Lousia said, “Yes.” I then said, “It is a plus, and it is from your Mum.”

Lousia, a woman of few words said, “Yes.”
