It Is Good That I Am OK With It.

Last year June I got a colleague to weigh me at work, I wrote it down in my little green book, then yesterday at work I asked to be weighed again, and I was pleased that without trying, I’d lost 2lb! I was chuffed, and it was certainly better than putting 2lb on. I had just lived my life and enjoyed my food and drink.
There are two things, in general that I can control without any hassle, and that is adding salt and using sugar. Two important things really for me in my 60’s. I am teetotal, I’ve never been drunk in my whole life, for which I am pleased about and I have never took a drag of a cigarette.
Don’t get me wrong, I am not a healthy eating, drinking person, I don’t think. Having said that, there are certain things I love to eat and drink, that others may class as heathy I love:-
Beetroot, mixed salad, that I buy from Tesco.
Olives, I buy this for memory, I didn’t like them before, but forced myself to eat them and now I love them.
Crushed Avocado, this method and the guacamole is the only way I will eat and enjoy this, as straight from the stone is …. Horrible and slimy!
I love drinking small bottles of still water, I have bought a huge pack and have kept it in the boot of my car, and when I think about it, I take one bottle out and put it on my mini table where I sit on my sofa, and because it is there, in front of me I drink it, maybe not all at once but over one or two days. It must be doing me some good, as its water. But my brother who reads all ingredients, told me last year, “You need to read the ph on the label, as some are high and some are low.” That knowledge, that I didn’t need, almost put me off buying, the cheap water that Tesco was selling in the bulk department of their store. But then I checked myself and thought hey, its Water!
Most mornings I have a swig of cod liver oil, with a whole orange washed and cut into quarters.
What is not healthy, that I love is:-
Fish n Chips! My favourite meal on Earth and I have eaten this a lot in café’s, restaurants, and when Paul cooks it at home, his homemade chips are the Best!
I love Heinz salad cream, but they have shot up in price, and now they are mega expensive, so as a cheap substitute, I buy Tesco garlic mayo, chilli mayo, curry sauce they are all in bottles of 235ml and cost 90p to £1.10 better than paying £3.50 or more.
I love Golden Wonder crisps, they are my favourite, cheese & onion and also, Walkers second favourite. I try to have about 3 bags a week, sometimes I have more, I don’t check as it is not important.
I love Cake! This can be eaten any time of the day, with my first cuppa, as Lunch or just before going to bed, with or without custard. My favourite is Bakewell Tart.
I love biscuits, again can be eaten any time of the day or night, I have a lot of favourites, but I love Biscoff, in original form only, not as a spread it is horrible, I haven’t tried the ice-cream, that doesn’t appeal to me, and not with creamy filling, have tried it, not keen on it. Love Jaffa cakes, love plain chocolate digestives.
I love puddings, this too I have eaten for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or supper in the past. My favourite is apple pie with custard or apple crumble. I love Victora sponge; I love cheese cake and trifles.
My favourite drink is fizzy orange pop, not diet, and I love Ribena I love it nice and sweet.
There are two things I can ‘control’ and that is adding salt or not adding salt. At home, I decided last year not to add salt when Paul did his wonderful chips, I use vinegar, and his amazing onion gravy is more than enough. In the chip chop not only do I have salt and vinegar but I will even ask for more salt to be added. I never add salt to any of my food, not eggs, vegetables, salad, or meals.
Another thing that I can ‘control’ is adding sugar to my cereals or drinks. I love Alpen, and did try the no added sugar but I did need to eat it with a banana, as it was quite bland, I ate that for about three to four months. So, I ditched that, and bought the original, and then in comparison, it was very sweet. No sugar, I didn’t need to add.
With tea, for decades I can have sugar or not in it, it makes no difference to me, 90% of the time, I don’t put sugar in my tea, if I am out for the day on a course and there is tea, there I always have sugar, that is think is psychological, to make sure my blood sugar, or attention span don’t wane. As I need to stay alert. But at home or work, where I feel ‘safe’ I don’t need to add the sugar.
My doctor has informed me, “I want you to get your cholesterol, down.” But I used to have goats’ butter, as I heard it was good for health, but it went up and UP and now it is far too dear, so now whichever store I am in, I buy salted butter, never unsalted, full flavour, is good.
So, with all the above and more, I am amazed that I have Lost 2lb. I do walk to the Town sometimes and do a lot of walking at work. So, maybe it is swings and roundabouts. xXx

I've become a reader of
I've become a reader of ingredients on the food products too and it can be confusing; first off so many ingredients don’t even sound like food and cannot be all that good. I try too to eat healthy but it’s a challenge finding fair, priced healthy food.
