Above Clunton

One pleasure of woodland in late autumn, winter, and early spring
is the views visible through the skeletal trees,
especially in the hills of the Marches and mid-Wales,
on a bright day when the hillsides are greening and the far hills are visible.
Steeply above Clunton we walked down through Clunton coppice,
old woodland, with much sessile oak –
largely oak leaf floor, some very large,
and then up at the side of Purslow Wood with the views now open,
and then at the top a wonderful panorama,
and after a beefy short shower,
the crown of a brief bright rainbow-sign on the darker clouds
encircling the view! 22/3/23

What a wonderful walk to
What a wonderful walk to capture in a poem, and on a bright clear day where you can see for miles. A walk to look back on with fond memories, especially with those wonderful photos too.
A stunning walk indeed Rhiannon.

Thankyou for sharing another of your wonderful walks! How lovely to see a rainbow, they always seem like a gift making the landscape even more special. And I didn't know the word sessile, so learned something too as well as feeling refreshed by your descriptions and gorgeous photos
