Putin is Death

All things may be destroyed,

Irrepressible nature repressed,

Held down for the sake of conquest.

 

There is more dying than living,

The defeat of winter is not to be overcome after all,

By repression of human opinion and the coercion of society,

Real economic limitation.

The migration of so many of the children (and adults!) of Ukraine and Russia

 

Did Christ really come to save us?

Can we really be forgiven for all the crimes petty and major,

which we have done during our selfish lives?

If so why doesn’t he save us from Putin’s form of oligarchic nationalistic imperialist fascism?

Can we ever forgive him for the crimes, petty and major,

Which he has done to every family in Ukraine,

And to every family in the Russian so called ‘Federation’?

 

All can be forgiven?

But can it?

For every day is a new day,

But is it?

Not yet for Ukraine or Russia!

And we are all in this struggle together?

Perhaps!

No one is perfect,

Not even Putin!

But we all need each other?

That surely must be true!

 

Construction is so much better than demolition!

An end to wars and persecution,

An end to selfish competition,

The start of something better,

Working together to help our fellow men and women,

a real home for everyone,

a real place where all can grow!

This is a counterpoem/prayer modelled upon my Easter Prayer/Poem, in which words have been altered or extended in accordance with the effects of Putin's Invasion on Ukraine and Russia. It is a prayer for peace and better days, but not one which forgives Putin for the evil he has done!

"Putin is death.."  Well it appears so. An end to all wars, amen. And we hope for Ukraine to prevail and peace to reign. Nicely done again, Alfred.

Thanks for your comment Marandina. Putin cannot defeat Ukraine now, but he will not give up the war. He really does seem to be the architect of all this death and waste. He has ensured himself a bad place in the history books. If he only understood when he has gone too far and has little to gain in continuing this cruel war!

500 years longer than most of the rest of Europe . . .  What else do you expect to happen?

It's not just Putin who is dangerous. It's the whole of Russian history. There is much to do there.

I suppose you may be right there Ed. Russians seem to be used to following orders and not thinking or acting for themselves. Genuine democracy has been shortlived! The advent of Capitalism again into Russia in the 1990's appears to have been disastrous, and was hardly a smooth transfer of system. They ended up with new systems of control based on old loyalties and methods.

However I am not so sure that our methods of capitalism in the west at the moment are working all that well either. The cost of living crisis, labour shortages, predatory competition, the failure of small businesses, and the continuing rise of property prices and rents may all be symptoms of a breakdown in economic balances!

Thanks Jean. I do feel this war has been a great disaster for Russia, not just for Ukraine. All those soldiers lined up for slaughter, and all the efforts of Russian society going towards such an evil and unnecessary purpose. Let us hope it does end soon, and there can be a new and more constructive rebuilding.
