chlorophyll

The green that can trigger
the chemicals in air and water
into combinations and reactions for growth:
manufacture of cells in the leaves
and flower buds – to burst,
shedding pollen
which fertilizes so that seeds and fruit
can be dispersed
for new plants to grow and green,
and birds are fed
and farmers reap the corn
and store the apples
to keep for the winter cold
ahead.
[Thia last week's IP: include a colour, and animal and a fruit]

Well done for (just) managing
Well done for (just) managing to squeeze one last one in Rhiannon - although in a roundabout way, I suppose you could say this was a kind of recipe too!

great rhythm and rhyme, and your science background adding another ingredient :0) I like how you go through the seasons from first green outdoors to winter stores

None of us could live without
None of us could live without chlorophyll. It's like an addictive drug that we take for granted, if we are aware of its existence at all.
It enables plants to absorb energy from light. I think I might be a species of plant. In the spring I am full of enthusiasm for everything, by July and August I've slowed down a bit and in the winter when there are diminished supplies of light I have diminished amounts of energy.
I really like the way your words show how chlorophyll fits into the yearly cycle and what an important ingredient it is in the production of food for humans and the creatures that live around us.
Very enjoyable Rhiannon. Good on you!

A sweeping resume of the chain of life. I like the way you get underneath the bonnet of nature's mechanism. We should stand and acknowledge it from time to time. Nicely done, Rhiannon. Paul
