A Slow Cooked Life
My life has been a cautious mixture
A slow cooked recipe of hesitant fun
Many spicy moments just stumbled upon
Daring only to be dull and tasteless
Always walking, never wanting to run
Each dwindling ambition smaller than before
Living life sideways seemed the best
Confrontation, challenge the missing ingredients
The same old recipe that always survived the test
Deadened, flavourless, the tedium of repletion
Take a risk or two, try things new
Unknown adventures lay ahead
Cook up a storm, defy the norm
Cast caution from life’s cooking pot
Taste new life, it’s the only one I’ve got

Good use of the IP...
I agree.
You have a typo at line 5 "neve" vice "never".
I wonder if "lay" in your third stanza might be better as "lie". Of course, if you're trying to indicate that - perhaps - the unknown adventures never appeared, that would be fine, but I thought you might be trying to end on an uplifting note.
Excellent poem, in any case.

Congratulations on the Pick
Congratulations on the Pick of the Day, Graham. Excellent work. I very much like the concepts expressed in the last stanza redolent of the saying 'eat, drink and be merry as tomorrow you may die.'.
Best, Luigi
