A Special Celebration (I.P.) - (edited)

The sky is rather grey
but that's nothing new.
The sun is in our hearts
and we don't feel blue.
We are looking forward
to a bit of a do.
A special celebration
as a way of thank you
Our grandfather is
ninety-nine years old.
Though not yet hundred
he is on the threshold.
We have put up buntings
and 99 red balloons;
cooked his chosen biscuits,
coconut macaroons.
With his false teeth
they are difficult to eat
but for the old codger
they represent a treat.
It cannot be denied
that he has a sweet tooth,
he'll never tire of caramel
and that's the gospel truth.
We have made little cakes,
each with a cherry on top;
he'll devour every crumb,
no one can make him stop.

It's always nice to know that
It's always nice to know that there's someone older than yourself.
And I'm glad that grandfather got some cherries.
Good entertaining stuff Luigi!

I'll bet there's a ninety
I'll bet there's a ninety-nine year old grandpa out there somewhere in the world, that identifies with your poem Luigi, and also loves eating coconut macaroons...even with false teeth, I dare say.
As always put a smile on my face, and great for the I.P.

congratulations!
Not many people live to be 99 and he sounds strong as a horse. Too good to be true!
Congratulations grampa! & Nolan
