It’s getting  

dark down

and a fox  sniffs

a picture of

stillness

 

a bear lurches

down the trail

both cubs glued

to her side

her breath like

a torch for

them to follow

 

foxes are about

owls on the move

& coyotes with

tummies rumbling.

Rabbit noses are

a-twitching tonight.
