No Regrets!

I was in my favourite shop TKMaxx, and I saw a beautiful, fabulous, strong looking all leather bag, in the men’s section upstairs.
I looked at it inside and out, held the two straps in my hand, I made sure the zip worked and I could see the shoulder strap inside.
It was Perfect!
I have got a lot of leather bags, a lot of them from TKMaxx. I don’t think it is an addiction, like smoking, drinking and gambling. If it was, then I would have thousands of handbags. I have not counted them, I am not going to put an amount here, as that would be wrong.
The bag was freestanding about 5” wide at the base, with four black studs either end. As I look at it from the front, left to right, it is 12” to 14” from the base to the top of the bag it is about 15” tall. It is a substantial bag. The two strong straps, they are about 5” high from the top of the bag.
I have to, admit, I loved the bag, but you can’t buy everything, nor every bag, some bags have to stay unbought and in the shop for, someone else to buy and enjoy.
I loved the feel of the bag, I love leather SO much. The bag was perfect.
I stood, there for a few good minutes, studying the bag. I said to myself, if I leave this bag in the store, will I have regrets, when I get home? Like I have done many times.
In my shopping trolley was a stunning almost full-length Hemp dress, it was a Very Special treat to me. The bag was £150 it was reduced many times to £39 pounds, so a great reduction, but still a lot of money.
For £39 I couldn’t justify buying it. So, eventually after a lot of yes, no, yes, no, yes, no, in my head, I decided it was a no! And that was final. I was very happy with my frock.
I paid for my lovely hemp dress and went home. That was when it started, it was only £39 pounds, it wasn’t as if it was £399.99, then that would have been unreasonable. It was only £39 why didn’t I see it so clearly in the store?
Now I had left my precious bag, cheap at just £39 in the shop! How could I have done that? For that price it would have been snapped up maybe by the very next person that saw it.
The following day was Sunday. I had my grandson Darius with me. I decided that after Church I would drive back to the shop and see if it was still there. If it was still there, then it was meant to be, if it wasn’t I would be gutted, enough for me to kick myself.
It was 15 minutes in the car. When we got there, I said to Darius, “You stay in the car, I will lock it, and run in and be back in less than five minutes.”
My heart was racing. Would it be there? I had put it at the back of the other 2 bags that was on the rack. There was another floppy light brown, large leather satchel type bag, lovely in its own right, reduced to an amazing price of £25, but I had seen better with the sturdy brown leather zipped bag. There was no competition really. It was the rich brown leather bag that I was interested in.
I suppose if I am honest, I didn’t expect it to be there, for I have been here many times before. Finding a find, thinking about it, then having regrets and going back, to find it gone.
I locked Darius in the car outside the shop doors and went into the store. I walked up the stairs, and to the men’s section.
As I approached, my heart, was pounding even faster than it was before.
I saw it! I looked at it! I took it to the till’s downstairs. I said, to the Cashier, “Saw this lovely bag yesterday, my Husband smokes, I don’t, hence the bag!”
I couldn’t believe it was still there. It will now be my bag that I will take onto to the airplane when I go to Malta.
It took days for it to sink in, that it was still there, unsold, waiting for me to come back and buy it.
Happy! x
