Waterfall

Dear diary...wouldn't it be
good to turn back time, to
smile across rousing energy
gushing unleashed freshness
with sense of exhilarating
abandonment.
Overwhelming waterfall you
gave me such a thrill; hearing
white noise drift over craggy
rocks, my eyes clearly recall
such beauty.
Time of casting shadows on
trees that stand in those old
haunts, where my cup was
overflowing with pleasure;
how could I be tempted to
forget.
Route taken by cascade with
its audible tumbling weaved
a spell binding charm, leaving
me imagining echoes; nymphs
at play as we scrambled over
boulders.
Here where we remained for
rest of day, trusting in our
immersed embracing of those
pleasures; glad to have shared
them, now I hold them close.
Poem about a holiday in
Yorkshire, where we spent a
day at a waterfall. I think it
was about 1986 or 1987.

I've been putting together a poem about a walk last week that included an unexpected hidden away waterfall. They are refreshing with the energy, the constant change, the sound and the coolness of the spray. Lovely to sit by and remember. You have enjoyed the recalling. Rhiannon

Memories
Hello Jenny.
The first couple of lines of your poem brought to my mind Cher's song 'If I Could Turn Back Time' and the video that accompanied it, so I imagined you dancing around in your cozzie with two thousand American sailors on the deck of a US Navy battleship.
Did I get that right? Should I read on?
Of course I read on. I could never resist. We're back to the delights brought about by running water.
But also memories. Such simple things can make huge impressions on the brain. A waterfall, a song, a street walked down on a holiday or even a taste or a smell. It's incredible how they stay with us. No matter what we haven't done in our lives, memories of the things that we have done will always be precious.
I'm glad you have this memory and I'm glad you've enjoyed the wild places of Yorkshire.

Your powerful imagination
Your powerful imagination allows you to revisit the holiday and the waterfall whenever you want to, Jenny. I bet you remember the scent of the magical air around the waterfall. Apparently water has a memory and everything which passes the water becomes imprinted into it so the water remembers you too.

Wonderful! Unreal!
Wonderful! Unreal! And your poem even looks like a waterfall with all the cascades, and right at the bottom the icy pool where the waterfall eventually falls into (your bold type).
I just absolutely love waterfalls. Thanks Jenny, needed this.
All the best! Tom
