Trust us with your money –
the profit will be great!
Hurry, hurry, hurry!
or you’ll be too late!

Money gone – to where?
Seller’s disappeared.
“Castle in the air”:
mirage-scam is feared.

Research whoever’s asking
that you give them cash.
Are they worth the risking?
Don’t do something rash!

Who is really trustworthy?
Is their backup sound?
Are they rather dodgy?
Criminals abound.

He who offers freely
peace, is faithful, just
and delivers fully:
none regret that trust.

thanks, Tom. Sadly there are those who are constantly thinking new ways to trick people into such things, and easy to do something afterwards realised as foolish and rash. Many confess to getting caught and there is much advice around now anyway.

I hope you find useful occupation for your time in some way. Pray about it. Rhiannon

Like with hacking, so much skill that could be used for good, and so much grief caused to so many. Oh, and I saw something yesterday about people creating false news items for slander and harm. So sad, and ultimately for them too. Rhiannon

It's so sad that the internet which has opened up the world for many of us, now carries so much fear. I wonder if this happened when speech began? How long it took till possibility of saying something untrue occurred, the beginning of mistrust. You illustrate the panic of being confronted by a possible scam really well

Of course scamming occurs a lot by phone as well. Yes, so sad that all things that can be used for so much good, are open to abuse, and in the end sad for the perpetrators too. We need the Lord's help to control our tongues and our hearts too! I remember reading ages ago a Chalet School story where a girl who had spread gossip was asked to help pluck a chicken when there was a breeze in the garden, Bits of feather and down kept flying about and gradually she realised she couldn't clear it all up. The point was made to her that words spoken can't always be retracted! Satan spoke lies to Eve in the garden! Rhiannon

Very topical Rhiannon and it's not only the older generations who are susceptible to such scams. The sophistication of these things is moving at such a rate of knots, nobody is immune, particularly if you have a gap in your life, leaving you more vulnerable, loneliness is an example. I think an infomative verse like this should be put up in public spaces, a warning poster for all to not let their guard down.

Thank you, Jane. I know a while ago, my husband and a very sensible friend got caught slightly before realising over a query, not  a selling scam. I get quite nervous about touching wrong buttons sometimes! So sad the lengths of skill and imagination pervertedly being used to entrap, Rhiannon
