Watching
Jennifer Pickup, 29.07.2024
I know that you’re here with me,
Even though I can’t see you,
You are keeping a close eye,
Watching everything I do.
It’s the coincidences,
The things others might not see,
Echoes of you everywhere,
Little messages for me.
A feather falls on the path,
When I’m walking on my own,
You would put them in your hat,
Now I know I’m not alone.
I use a familiar phrase,
Something that you used to say,
And I pick your habits up,
More and more along the way.
A car just like yours is parked,
When I’m lacking confidence,
I have your strength in my heart,
And I can feel your presence.
When I’m not sure I can trust,
Somehow someone has your name,
You won’t let me make mistakes,
And I’m so glad that you came.
I hope you watch her as well,
Keep the shadows from her side,
And when she may need some help,
You are there to be a guide.
I wish I could see your face,
I could hear your voice again,
Reach up and give you a hug,
But just memories remain.
When I want to tell you things,
I speak all my thoughts aloud,
I know that you’re listening,
And I hope I make you proud.
I know that you’re watching me,
Keeping a protective view,
Though I had to say goodbye,
I haven’t really lost you.

This is such a beautiful heartfelt poem that describes exactly how I feel about a lost loved one.
I presume the man in the photo is your father, he looks like a very kind gentle man. I hope you always feel his love surrounding you.
Take care and keep the faith.
Jenny.

The living and the dead kept
The living and the dead kept apart, the bridge being love; a lovely poem Jennifer to what we can see was a lovely man.
