We mourn those scared

innocent screams, but in

the silence of gathering

flowers and flowing of

sensitive tears,

 

hold fast to love...for

caring is your saving

grace, like echoes that

reach through time give

sweet new beginnings to

future minds.

 

A poem about the young

murdered in Southport,

at the Taylor Swift

themed event.

A very moving response to an unspeakably horrible tragedy - thank you for sharing Jenny

Hi insert, thank you so much for your response to my poem. I did try to comment yesterday, but my internet kept going down, I think it had something to do with the extreme heat.

This is such a terrible tragedy. Those young people all set for a summer of fun, to end in such devastation. I can't imagine what the families must be going through.

It's good that they live in an area that shows so much care for each other, it's really needed at this time.

I was so deeply moved yesterday and couldn't contain my tears of emotion, which is what led me to write this poem.

It was lovely to receive those cherries which I very much appreciate.

many thanks for your kind words. I think love is the most important declaration we can show at a time like this, with so many young lives destroyed, and families in turmoil. It just shows how fragile life is.

What has inspired me Jenny, is seeing those good folk there working together to repair and heal, after the tragic killings amd the mindless rioting; the vast majority of people are decent and I should always remember that.

Hi Dougie, I agree, seeing people come together to help and try to heal is the best that anyone can do in situations like this tragic and senseless act.

Those beautiful faces of those little girls who died will stick with me a long time.

Such moving words Jenny. You did very well to write them. I don't think I would be able to touch such an awful topic.

I can sometimes see a slight trace of a motive that might make an atrocity understandable, though not forgivable, but I just can't for the life of me get my head round how anybody in the world would do such a horrific thing as what happened in Southport yesterday.

Hi Turlough,

in answer to your thoughts. I think there's such a big break down in the system of this mad crazy world. I don't know what that seventeen year old boy's background or history was to have commited such an atrocity, so I can't really comment on him. But I agree it's such a horrific and terrifying scene to imagine, and left me in emotional tears as I watched the laying of flowers and many messages, especially the one from Taylor Swift herself, which was so touching.

Those young people and their families are in my thoughts and I don't think this day will ever be forgotten.

Thank you, Jenny.

There is so much wielding of knives, sometimes meant for 'enemies' though even then sometimes others getting hurt or killed.

There is a generation that has been robbed of training and foundations by example and precept, and parents afraid to instruct or discipline, and society losing a sense of awe and fear of wrongdoing in the right sense, probably as the awareness of a Sovereign Judge has been abandoned, scorning his help for happiness and doing right as well. Hi Rhiannon,

you know even the mention of knives gives me the shivers and those poor defenceless youngsters never stood a chance. 

I agree tthat society is losing a sense of awe and fear of wrongdoing. I'm just so sad for the fact it's the innocent youngsters that want to better themselves and enjoy the pleasure of dancing, yoga and other activities that had to suffer along with their loving families.

I will always remember how when I left school and joined a drama group, it was the best move I ever made, and how excited I felt about being accepted by others of my own age. I can't imagine at such a young age having my life destroyed by such horror.

My emotional heart goes out to all those youngsters that got caught up in the violence, and those families in morning for their loss and those living with such heartache.

May they be surrounded by caring friends and loving arms to give them a loving hug.

An elegant moving poem for such an awful incident.

Crimes committed that take the lives of young ones are amongst the very worst.

You're right, of course. We defer to love. It's what we trust to overcome the hatred.

Thank you for your kind words Paul. I couldn't help but shed tears again when I saw the faces of those beautiful children on the front of my partners news paper. So young and fragile, it breaks my heart as I write.

And yes you're right, crimes commited that take the lives of young ones are amongst the very worst. I just keep asking myself why? But can never find the answer.

This is moving tribute, Jenny, sensitively done. It's been on my mind all week and can't help wondering what went wrong with this young man. The response of the public, I understand, it's based upon fear. Caring is your saving grace - it's true.
