Tic, toc. Tic, toc.
This is the sound
that my ears pick
but it isn't that
of a ticking clock
It is the tapping
of my walking stick
that, on an uneven
and wet pavement,
steadies my movement.
The effect of old age
that afflicts many
and which is dealt with
calm resignation,
not impotent rage.
We know and accept
the increasing fragility
with sad regret
and we must bow
to the logical inevitability.

I know the feeling Luigi, though I'm sure you feel it more than me. But of course you're still young at heart.

Keep up the good work!

As one who has just celebrated her seventieth, I can very much relate to this. But how can it be that, at the same time, I'm still waiting to grow up? One of the great mysteries of life!
