E - A COLOUR OF WORDS IN "HOLI".

Once again this special occasion made me remember my yesteryears.
Such wonderful days were they ----- full of mirth, joy, emotions,
enjoyment, recreation, ------ and best of everything was in the
participation in all these and in all totality.
So many years I have traversed on this path. But never have I felt a
sense denial, betrayal or being in a state of hopelessness or despair.
This hopeful purpose has stretched and brought me to this stage in
life. There is now a wilful heart but not an urge of physical
participation but I am now enjoying everything not by means of a sense
of 'touch'. Yet for me life had never been something to lose but always
a lingering hope in the best.
The month of March is associated with the festival of 'Holi' in India.
This year, from the very beginning I had thought of enjoying Holi, only
by seeing the splattering of colours and not participating physically
in this wonderful game of colours.
Of course, Holi in my country is a unique festival. It has a
mythological association. It is the game of colours of Lord Krishna.
Cows are worshiped and their foreheads are coloured with red. After
every Holi, Indians await for the coming Holi. This is an occasion when
people put dry or wet colours on one another and distribute sweets. Old
misunderstandings are forgiven and forgotten and they embrace each
other. Caste, creed or religion never comes forth as a barrier for
people are found on one stage with a hue of the different colours. Holi
is something worth enjoying and something special in being a part of it
for someone who has never seen or played this game of colours.
So is Our Holi. Do you know one thing -------There is a belief that we
offer our first green mango to the lord and then all the people use
this fruit. Some people still now believe in this and follow it.
It is this Holi I am speaking about now. I was engaged in myself in the
morning. Suddenly the telephone rang. I picked up the receiver and said
" Hello" Immediately from the other end words came " Happy Holi".
I was so happy. It was my friend, who is so close to my heart but stays
far away. I was so excited to hear her voice. We chatted for some time.
Before calling off she said, "I do miss you and those past days.
Remember how we used to play Holi&;#8230;" and she kept quiet. There
was an atmosphere of silence for sometime.
The ebbing emotions and the nostalgic atmosphere of Holi suddenly
caught my heart. I said, " These beautiful words of yours are the
different colours that you have put on me. I am so happy that at least
I have got a chance to play Holi this year with you through your
colourful words". At the other end my friend seemed as excited as
me.
Soon we bade a good bye. I thought at least I could play Holi this year
by means of colourful words.
