Alight

Deep inside the ancient tomb
A light flickers to life in the wind
Illuminating the harsh curves of
Granite nestled between softwood
Tentative footsteps break the distilled silence
Each movement exaggerated by the beating of the flame
A gentle caress fades the wood and
Brings a heartbeat to here -
Rhythmic, a constant, never ending
Passive turns to passion as soul
Meets soul by the roar of fire
All sense, overdrive -
To feel more than a touch
To taste more than a flavour
To hear more than words
To love you more than life
The nothingness filled by thoughts of fire
Current runs along the surface of stone
Epithelial flash that runs to the core
It chokes, it fills the soul to overflow
It trembles and cries -
Ignition.
