Teddy Bears Picnic

If you go down to the woods today,
You're sure of a big surprise.
'Cos where there used to be lots of trees,
There's nothing but ozone skies.
The lumberjacks are working all day,
They're killing the trees that stand in their way.
And while they chop,
They're killing the planet we live on.
If you go down to the woods today,
You're sure of a big surprise.
The birds and bees have disappeared,
There aren't any butterflies.
There's not an animal to be seen,
There's nothing left where they should have been.
The trees are lying dead,
In the madmans woodyard.
Bring your axe let's have some fun.
Let's chop down all the trees,
And see how fast the monkeys run.
Bring your umb-e-rella too,
'Cos when the trees are gone,
The ozone hole will dazzle you.
Better take a photograph,
A memory for the children yet to come.
Show them what we ruined for them,
We'll be dead and gone, just like the trees
So blame it on the acid rain.
If you go down to the woods today,
You'll never believe your eyes.
There's nothing standing above the ground,
They've cut it all down to size.
The chain saw gangs are having their tea,
Upon the stump of the very last tree.
There's cakes and buns,
And carbon monoxide poisoning.
Don't go down to the woods today,
They're burning what's left behind.
The lunatics are playing with fire,
And nobody seems to mind.
The teddy bears are having a smoke,
Essence of redwood, acacia and oak,
Their picnics been abandoned,
Due to cancer.
