the dream-land blues

This isn't what I paid for,
it isn't from my dreams.
But somebody had to stay here,
something had to be.
This isn't what I'm saying,
much less what I mean.
But the stars were getting lonely,
somebody had to dream.
Now I don't know where dreams may come,
but I can sing and I can strum.
Just don't know where dreams may come,
but dreamland is where I'm from.
Now I love action, fond of war.
But I hate drama, what's it for?
Before I met you, life was easy.
lived in my Taurus, slept in fleeces.
I loved you like an angel,
Never dreamt you were a whore.
Cause I've contracted your diseases,
And seen my whole life hit the floor.
I'd take arms against the sea,
that's just the way I am.
If you ever find me in trouble,
trouble's where I am.
I know these are murky waters,
I just don't give a damn.
Now I don't really want to die,
but it's my destiny to dive.
I don't know what dreams are in store for me
but, baby, this man can still bleed.
Dreamland is where I'm from
Cause I can still sing and strum.
