In the Sky

I shut myself away for far too long,
Then I heard on the wind a bird in song.
Carried to me from some distant shore,
So far away, locked behind my door.

And I heard its beauty so pure and true,
feeings of love I never knew.
This was when my heart sought your face,
And I felt the desire to leave my place.

Just like an angel, so soft and kind,
I felt your gaze as I stepped outside.
A soothing breeze that touched my skin,
also touched me deep within.

You took away what was never there,
the emptiness that gave me my despair.
And the sky came back upon my eyes,
as I lifted my face to your breathless sighs.
