My Grandma was a good woman. I was her only grandchild and she
always treated me with respect and love. From when I was very young,
she understood my inherent goodness. She once said that animals liked
me because they sensed that I was nice. It is true that I am naturally
a very kind person; I often wish that I was not.
My Grandma would often tell me of her brother Ray. He was a
brick-layer who never married. But she truly loved and admired this
brother. From how she described him, he was a straight-forward and good
man. This may account for his lack of worldly success.
My Grandma loved to tell me stories about our family and her
experienced in depression era Chicago. They usually weren't very
interesting but sometimes they were. She always fixed me good things to
eat: rye bread with swiss cheese, olives, potato salad, etc. I like her
taste in food, though maybe a little less fat would be ideal.
My Grandma was a good woman. She believed in the Nelson family and the
Democratic Party. she loved me very much and, as I said before, for the
right reasons. If I ever amount to much, I'll put a sign up on my door
that will say: "The Nelsons." Because I don't know what I believe in in
this world but I know I love my Grandma.
