they are boxed in
by lifes incessant cunning plot
hyssop flights a bee flown close
tantalized by lemon balm
as they are by each others nearness
and the warmth of palm to palm
acanthus mallow cammomile
germander southernwood and thyme
yield their scent to air
and the apothocary's art sublime
marked out in perfect symmetry
partaking of parterres
all they can do is stroll
arm in arm or palm to palm
