Affinity
Uncontrollable, catalytic, the last ingredient – light,
too often diluted in forty shades of grey
or in tsunami waves bleaching all.
Today? Today, in perfect clarity, shafts of light
thread him as he stands and knit him to the shore,
blend and mix him with rock, sea, thrift and trefoil
weave him through porpoise curve and sleek otter
through eagle wing and mirror loch revealing
and reflecting him through prisms of sea spray.
It breathes weightlessness into his skin and
for a moment, before he is bound forever,
he is gone, ephemeral as wind through grass,
soaring along light’s acuity, diving back through rich soil
and emerging earthy nursing a beating seed of faith.

This is so good. I loved the imagery of light and sea and how well you captured an idea of affinity. Very clever and very beautifully done.
