Hardworking British Families

Hardworking families slave;
They bravely put away
For rainy days and pensions.
Anxieties and tensions are obeyed.
Hardworking families tend to spend
So they can pretend
To afford the leafy suburbs.
Reward for all the troubles they’ve endured.
Hardworking British dads are glad
For mad deadlines,
And late nights in the office;
Fuelled by Starbucks coffees and Pro-Plus.
Hardworking British mums, so glum,
Return to earn
So they can pay for childcare -
Feel like they’re really out there in the world.
A tiny infant cries, baptised,
Surprised to be R.C.
So she’ll get into the right school.
Her career’s on schedule from day one.
The youth of Britain train.
Their brains are chained.
Signed up for college courses:
Become human resources on the phones.
Hardworking families all,
Recoil from toil,
And spoil your chance to pay more taxes!
Get Brazilian waxes; catch some rays.
