As the Poor becomes poorer
the nails are getting deeper
As they cry out and perish
the thorns begin to pierce.
The blood of Christ is shed
when people scavenge for bread.
The Cross becomes heavy
when they're treated unjustly.
When we succumb to indifference,
to the needy across our fence,
Our Lord becomes weary
and dragged once more to Calvary.
Christ calls us once again
that heaven we may gain
To follow Him
we must dare
To carry the cross
and SHARE.

I can't think of a more fitting time for poem to be submitted. Very relevant to our time and to those of us who purport to believe, a guilty reminder.
Chris.

I think that Chris (3leaf) is spot on,
A poem for our times - and a very good one too!
