There’s a rose in thistle called love
It maybe be a rain cloud up above
Or it could just be my darling, us
In the thorny petals of these, buds.
Oh the mountains they’re looking down, love...
Where river valleys run red underground, love...
Oh and yes, a sea is grumbling...
All around you, it’s grumbling and rolling...
And thundering... and growling...
Oh sweet holy fire-lit foundation
What love is this heavenly creation?
Loving you! Loving you!
Loving you...
Sometimes when the wellspring lies empty
There’s not another hearts bounty of plenty
That I’d rather spend my evenings shadows
-With drifting... in and out of summers bloom!
Just cobwebs of starlight’s we learn to follow...
To find our salvation or endless... doom.
But sweet heart I do believe in us and you!
You can pilot ship me back to paradise
On that rainbow, who knows where we’ll go...
Maybe to a silver city over the sea,
Covered in silver snow... maybe
To a shamrock meadow over the lea
Where the thistles are blowing still downy
Still blowing in the petals of these hallos
Oh purity in abundance! Who but us still knows?
Where there’s a flower in thistle called love
Called a rose! May you never suffer the rain above?
It’s not all petals and flowers in human clothes
But immortality in our hearts, still ember glows.
And yes in a dimly-lit market town
She wears the moons-light like a fluorescent-crown
Yes, and it feels like a fiery songbirds down;
When I hear her joy and thunder in the valleys all around;
What’s the wonder?
It’s only her love... tilting a rain cloud, over...
Over in a thistledown!
