COOKING LAKE poem

Cooking Lake
serves up a potpourri of ducks in
colourful bunches. Their resting place
temporary as evening clouds shelter
an Alberta sky. And hunters prey along
the shore, imitation calls trying to
seduce careless members within the
flock, 12 gage steel pellets anxious
for a kill. But these mallards are
not easily tempted from the shallows,
nibbling roots more interesting
at this moment.
