It’s funny how, now they’re demolishing
The theatre, it should reap such great success:
There’s crowds, there’s shoves – a rally to be witness!
I only walk as though abolishing
That image from my psyche, while I aim
For some side-alley, quickening my step.
To me the blast will kindle nought except
A memory from which I flee in shame.
Somewhere within this city of relations
There was a house I called our friendship, where
We used to go together. Its demolition
Has left me homeless with my cross to bear.
And now I roam, lost, seeking exculpation,
My heart under the rubble, you elsewhere.

I really liked this. So much was said by the narrator in so few words.
And especially admire these lines:-
"There was a house I called our friendship, where
We used to go together. Its demolition
Has left me homeless with my cross to bear."
