Boxes of Bones
The things from the old marital attic
got damp and covered with dust
placed carelessly with rancour perhaps
My highschool yearbook
with the big eyed picture of a teenage me
perched on a rock like a wood nymph
the picture my daughter would one day look for
totting up her history
looking for
a lineage of beauty
is rotted with damp
as is my christening Bible
my guitar has two good strings
bark pictures from holidays
have no hanging wires
what do you do with pottery jars
and old washing bags
that might come in handy?
I can only sort it a few bones at a time
