I used to watch the setting sun
As day turned into night,
Alas I watch no longer
For I am robbed of sight.
I used to watch the rain drops
Slip down the window pane,
Alas I watch no longer
For I'll not see again.
I used to watch the children
Laughing in the park,
Alas I watch no longer
For my world's turned to dark.
I used to watch the swallows
Playing tag in Autumn skies,
Alas I watch no longer
For God's reclaimed my eyes.
I used to watch the world go by
I took such things as read,
Amen and thanks to God at least
For the mem'ries in my head.

Kheldar - if words were fifty pounds notes, you would be very well off. But thank goodness they're not; for as they stand, these words of yours, they make you richer by far.

fifty pound notes or not,
fifty pound notes or not, you've given them with generosity and honesty, a very tender sadness through the whole of this poem, I love the repetition in each stanza. one of my favourites of yours already,:~}

Heartfelt and sad but with some 'mem'ries' to savour. I liked this a lot...and definitely worth a few bob. ;)
