Love Letters

A golden bar of sun,
Black trees silhouette.
The shore paces away,
Your footprints an image of me.
Violet papers,
Tied with silk ribbon,
Billet-doux mothballed,
In tomorrow's attic.
Today my waxy skin
Surfing water-drops refresh.
And you lie breast upward,
Points to the sky.
The pantechnicon is impatient,
A daughter's letters lost
For a new start in bowling green suburb
With retirement homes.
The mirror is a friend to us both.
Your golden tassels of hair
Brushed sunlight.
My eyes sea-blue.
The new owner of the house
Dusts the old timbers,
Climbing rickety stairs
He finds old times.
As I lay with you
My heart is on fire.
The quick pulse of love
Tears at your fallow.
Reading of the past
As raking through cinders,
Peeping Tom invader
Sears the lost image.
At the climax a dagger thrust,
Our holiday finished by crime.
Lifeless bodies newly sun-tanned,
Desolate in the sand.
Touched by what he sees:
Love strongly felt,
It reminds him of his youth:
He sets about his happiness in his new house.
