I
You cannot hold me back;
harnessed by fear,
unpeeled with a knife-
the length of you.
Content,
to let my shadow wither.
A ghost;
cut-out charcoal,
a paper silhouette.
II
My skeleton;
your trophy.
Each scar,
unfading…
an ode to love.
Awakened…
at the resurrection of your fingertips.
Gushing blood-
rising to the surface,
to greet your lips.
III
Daylight stains…
I’d give anything
to remove it.
Tainting skin…
set my scars free
to flutter away;
through the forest of cuts;
watch those trees
bleeding…
the red ribbon
falling…
to the ground.
Be certain you’d
never rise again.

Some terrific images in this one, Beeme!
"set my scars free
to flutter away;
through the forest of cuts;"
- reminds me of Radical Face's song "Welcome Home" with the lyrics "heal the scars from off my back, I don't need them anymore".
Beautiful poem ;)
