VAINGLORY VI
(The following is a journal entry left by the 4th century monk, Evagrius Ponticus concerning his discovery of “the eight deadly sins”)
Dear Lover of the Fictitious Character,
Last night in my dream, I stabbed the “God” and the “Savior” which you so desperately still seem to need an innumerable amount of times. He’s dead! It’s dead! Hey, whatever image or thought that you tried your hardest to beat into my mind and my heart with years of guilt and shame, I am telling you, it is all gone! I am the one who did this. Let me be the first to say that when I threatened the Lord God, he didn’t put up much of a fight. I guess that is because even in a dream, reality seeps in. The true reality of there being no real “God” to speak of, to answer to, to care about or to seek, well it must have overshadowed the struggle of the manifestation of all the lies I have accrued over the years, having been subjected to all the tall tales screamed at me.
Boastfully Yours,
Evagrius, AD 375
