A Distant Desert
A distant desert
Holds my heart.
A red sun I cannot see.
Skin burned
In the fires of love.
You must let them go
When they flee.
Like a carved out pumpkin
Lost words
On deaf ears.
I remain upright
Searching every text
For familiar trust.
Keeping the bitter out
Holding out
For your return.

"Skin burned in the fires of love". That's a good line of poetry cormacru999. You may know that I'm more here for the poetry, I thought you were more of a prose writer and I have only just found your poetry but I do know that I will be back for more. Thanks for sharing.
