Rantings of and about a Bitter Neighbor

Oh why,
dear neighbor
must you
hate me
so much?
Whatever have
I ever
done to
make you
filled with
such
disgust?
I pray
one day
you will find
that maybe,
oh just maybe
I am not
the demon
you assume.
Your son
and me
are friends,
it is true
but we are friends,
let us be so we
may grow;
change is good
and well,
not dark
and full
of gloom.
Perhaps this message
finds you well
and safe at heart;
but you still
hate me
and wish me ill
despite the
fact that
I never
see you.
Why is it
that we
hate people
merely on our
opinions alone?
Why must we
make such cruel
and random judgments
that are
rarely ever
true?
Maybe there will
come a time
when you
will find it
in your heart
to accept
the fact that
not everyone
is in fact
a demon in disguise,
waiting and watching
to bring you down
and kick you
in the
gut.
Maybe,
oh please
maybe,
one day soon
people will
get better
and these days
won't be so dark
a shade of
lonesome blue
and we might find
that we are better
together
than apart,
better with
hearts open
than forever
shut.
But until then
you keep
hating me
and keep
he and I
apart
from being
even such things
as close friends
because of
this misguided hatred
you feel of
the unknown.
One day
you will see
that I am
not evil
nor all those
bitter things
you said;
one day
you will be
shown.
