Dead Gods by the Sea Shore

Like craggy old faces of an ancient god,
Stoically staring at the sea.
They don’t move, don’t even nod,
From their pedestals, they cannot flee.
The force of nature withering and wearing,
salt stings their eyes, but never a tear falls.
A flock of sea gulls, boisterous and blaring,
these dead deities, deaf to their calls.
The sea laps around their chins,
burying them in the murky gloom.
As the tide rises and falls, the earth spins,
and they play hide and seek with the sun and moon.
The rock wears away as time flees by,
revealing new layers more majestic than before.
As all over the planet, life grows and dies,
The ocean swallows them and they sink to the floor.

Nothing more astonishing
Nothing more astonishing than this cycle. It puts our existence and temporality into clear context. Excellent.

Your environment is one that
Your environment is one that I desire and aspire to. Mountains from one window and the sea from another - you lucky poet.

Well I don't think that
Well I don't think that that's going to happen any time, but I do have some blessings that I protect as if my life depended on it. If those went then I would let myself be recycled. Without a second thought.
