Don’t react but respond
P K Routray
At times we react and at times we respond to a situation,
In managerial parlance response is the only acceptable proposition.
But we generally react,
Without a slightest thought impulsively we enact.
Here is a story for you,
To illustrate an example which is true?
Once in a party a cockroach flew and sat over a lady,
proudly dressed holding her choicest dish chatting with somebody.
Her instant reaction was a screaming cry with dish plate thrown,
The cockroach and dish landed on some to her they were unknown.
The chaos multiplied in minutes turning everyone emotionally frenzied,
Till the cockroach landed on a bearer trapped while serving in the stampede.
He caught hold of it without fear,
disposed it off at an outside bin located outdoor.
The peace and relief descended on the hall,
But of the merriment the incident took a heavy toll.
The dignified lady reacted without thought but on impulse,
The serving bearer responded with thought and purpose.
Let us respond but do not react to an incident,
So to a situation and to the society be benevolent.
