The Cavalcade Of Toys

Here comes the cavalcade of toys
that signifies all springtime’s joys.
With tiny, tin, toy drums and flutes,
they rat-a-tat and root-a-toot.
Here comes the cavalcade of toys
to entertain the girls and boys.
A toy, tin infantry advance
while ballet dollies gaily dance.
And, behind them, a bouncing ball
and baby dolls that bawl and crawl
and teddy bears with velvet fur
that prowl around and growl and grrr.
Rocking horses with wooden riders
and brightly coloured kites and gliders
and whirling, twirling spinning tops
then ten pop gun cannons go pop.
Then folks made out of building blocks
and clockwork flocks of birds that sing
and, last of all, jack in the box
jumps up just like the joyful spring.
