Mango the fruit unique
P K Routray
Mango is a tropical fruit,
Its mouth watering taste, nobody can refute.
Whether green or ripe like our heart and kidney it looks cute.
Its ever tempting sight and fragrance, none can dispute.
At times it is sour extreme,
and at times sweeter than chocolate, cake and ice cream.
Its sourness has special attraction and indication,
Longing for it by a lady indicates from her womb the arrival of a new born.
There is a hard seed inside,
A soft thick skin covers the pulp from outside.
The hard seed adds to the eating pleasure,
It elongates the time of eating even for an hour.
The skin is also chewed with greed and passion,
no matter whether the enjoyer is old or young, king or common.
If you mark a person eating a mango with love,
all his senses will seem to be in total bliss as if travelling in heaven above.
when you see a mango lover eating the fruit,
the eater at times looks uncivilized and brute.
the juice falling on and smearing the body and dress if any,
the seed going in and coming out of mouth looks funny.
The scene thus described though looks uncivilized but is real,
the intensity of love for the fruit, the actual scene only does reveal.
A king among fruits for tropical people,
From green stage to ripe stage it remains tasteful.
the procedure of eating varies from place to place,
Class of mango at times decides the difference.
Though borne in summer, round the year it is available in market,
The joy of eating a mango fallen from a tree in a mango grove is a scene of real interest.
During thunder and storm some fall from tree,
You can throw a stone at it to make it fall free.
Children and even grown up man or woman,
forgetting scorching sun and strong thunder run to a mango grove to get a fallen one.
The poem may look funny and unhygienic to western reader,
But even at this old age this writer with secreted saliva for the taste and scene long for.
