Stormy Weather

Started bright with whispered words, in bed of gentle night,
Snuggled under sheets of love, the calm before the fight.
Breeze is gone from morning’s dawn, replaced by windy words,
Blown strong across this field of sheets, as angry running herds.
Clouds of thought blow dark and swift, roiled high above her cries,
Tears fall down as sleeting rain, from skies of azure eyes.
Scattered drops of actions past, dampen wrinkled sheets,
Roots of words long forgot, break through the steaming streets.
Of roads we built as two in life, a path to help us cope,
Waters rise as hurt pools deep, plugging drains of hope.
I close the shutters of my mind, to keep this storm outside,
Battened down in cellared hope, ‘till passed, in dark reside.
Shouted words are lost in storm, though swift as steaming trains,
Assailed by hurt from broken heart, torrent breaks and maims.
Trains of thought crash into seas, the bridge of trust now broke,
Deeds long gone and thought forgot, on these I cough and choke.
