CAPRICE

caprice was very musical
although she couldn't sing
there was a bit of magic
to the table, she would bring

for when she cracked her knuckles
and the gas inside was blown
instead of just a pop
there was a nice melodic tone

by flexing different knuckles
she created rhapsodies
she didn't have to think too much
it came to her with ease

she didn't do it often
it was harmful to her hand
and she couldn't do it loudly
so quite near, you'd have to stand

she's play me "happy birthday"
when that day would come around
i'd be in rapt attention
so i wouldn't miss a sound

although folks knew her talent
they would not ask for the trick
they knew she kept it private
and the time and place, she'd pick

and only to a single soul
she did not like a crowd
and when she ceased her little tune
she closed her eyes and bowed
