POETRY AND PAINTING

a painting is just poetry
that has no need to speak
while poetry's a painting
where the blind don't have to peek

you peer into a painting
and the colors seem to move
they leak into your psyche
then starting running through a groove

you're taken to a realm
where all the language hangs in air
and only will your inner self
make sense of what's in there

though poetry may spell it out
the information sways
those people probing through the smoke
interpret what they gaze

a million different meanings
and a million more perhaps
for some it means escaping
while some others notice traps

i sure enjoy the poetry
and paintings i have sought
and love the things they seem to be
as well as what they're not
