THE FUNCTIONS OF EYES

eyes aren't just for looking out
but also looking in
the answers to the mysteries
are hiding there within

in the blackness there is knowledge
if allowed, it can be caught
that's why it's called the pupil
for there's lessons to be taught

in the colors there is beauty
mother nature's sweet events
that's why it's called the iris
vision casts a lovely scent

there's a web that catches wonders
like a sun about to set
that's why it's called the retina
the latin word for net

it's been said that the eyes
are truly windows to the soul
and people who avert their eyes
don't want want to lose control

but when i look into your eyes
you're looking back at mine
our eyes are making love
each time our bodies intertwine

for we do not have secrets
always everything we share
so we are not embarrassed
to just open up and stare

we're in each other's brain
and living in each other's skin
eyes aren't just made for looking out
but also looking in
