Got given a life back in '72
four years trying, what a breakthrough!
my parents always wanted another
so sister finally got a brother
far too late now to forewarn
the smiling sponge was now newborn
his cherub face, he never cried
would lead to a teenager dissatisfied
all too eager to please the crowd
impassive face masked a thundercloud
t.v on, games to play
drunken nights mere cabaret
looking for places that were hidden well
anaesthetising feelings in his drug cartel
switched him off from the void
as inconspicuous as an asteroid
here I am, now 41
trying to be less of a chameleon
lugging around an unborn me
writing to avoid future obscurity.

I love the jingly rhyme
I love the jingly rhyme scheme. One exception, ""41" and "chameleon" do not quiet pair up. I think you spilled the beans in an amusing manner. Enjoyed your poem of levity.
