From the castle and shops
past flower beds ablaze,
and sports fields; roam woods
(… green woodpeckers and jays);
the Taff was polluted
now its waters are fresh
(for a heron to fish!)
and dippers bob, dive
(their nest in the tunnel
for salmon to bypass
the rush of the weir);
there’s a quiet canal
where damsel flies flourish
(and a group volunteer
to clear it of rubbish);
by the river at night
a camera sight
of an otter come by,
(secretive, shy);
acres of Cardiff reserved,
for enjoyment preserved.

Hi Rhiannon
Hi Rhiannon
Another lovely poem, with a bit of local history in with the nature bits of it.

What a delight to read this
What a delight to read this poem, showing that there are people out there that care a lot about nature and doing something positive...which is what I liked about this poem Rhiannon.
Always gives me hope when people give back to nature.
Jenny.
