Absentee

-Missing you today

I wanted to have a cup of tea with you,

to sit down and have you there opposite me;

feet crossed, one elbow on the table,

chewing the end of your pen- then

tapping me on the head with it whilst you explained 

the world to me.

You wouldn't have said

that I am just  one

amongst the melancholy millions

caught off guard by October-

we'd have been too busy 

figuring out the crossword,

to notice when the Autumn 

leaves began to fall.
