The Glitch

 

"Ooh cat!" said Larry, as the cat ran across his path.

 

"'Ooh cat'," said Mick, raising his eyebrows and sighing at the banal resonance of the moment.

 

Larry looked at Mick.

 

"Sometimes," said Larry, "I wonder why we are friends."

 

"And you are...?" said Mick, upon which he got out his Kindle and slid a finger across the screen.

 

Larry looked at the Kindle - "That's not a Kindle," he said.

 

"What do you know of such things?" said Mick.

 

"I know a Boots 'Meal Deal' when I see one," said Larry.

 

Bah! Rumbled! - thought Mick, as he nonchalantly began to munch on his egg'n'cress.

 

"Ooh cat!" said Larry, as the cat ran back the other way.

 

Mick shook his head and quickened his step.
